Suzhou Porcelain Insulator Works Co., Ltd. (hereinafter called SPIW), founded in 1936, is one of the earliest professional manufacturers of porcelain insulators in China. It was listed in the National SME Share Transfer System in Dec. 16th, 2015 (stock name: Suzhou Electrical Porcelain; stock code: 834410). For a long time, SPIW has positively been developing and manufacturing various types of porcelain insulators with high quality for electric power, electrified railways, urban rail transit and electrical equipment. It is one of the key enterprises for high-voltage porcelain insulator industry in China. SPIW always looks upon technological innovation and process improvement as the core of company’s sustainable development. In September 2015, eight types of 760kN and 840kN AC/DC suspension disc porcelain insulators (shed profile: under rib and triple outer rib), which were self-developed, passed the new product appraisal done by China Electricity Council, making SPIW the first manufacturer of 840kN suspension disc porcelain insulator in China.
Since its registration in October 1979, the trademark “Shandian” has been identified as a famous trademark and brand in Jiangsu Province. Products of SPIW are manufactured in accordance with standards of GB, JB, TB, IEC, ANSI, etc. For example,
·Disc porcelain insulators from 40kN to 840kN used on AC/DC transmission lines;
·1000kV and below station post porcelain insulators;
·±1100kV and below station post porcelain insulators;
·long rod porcelain insulator from 100 kN to 550kN used on AC/DC transmission lines
·10kV to 145kV line post porcelain insulators;
·Porcelain insulators for electrified railways and urban rail transit.
The company owns two factories in both Suzhou Industrial Park and Suqian Susu Industrial Park, which are large, modern and cover a total area of 245,000m2. The total assets of SPIW are about 700 million CNY and the number of employees is around 1,100. Besides, three independent research and development platforms are set up such as Jiangsu High-voltage Porcelain Insulator Engineering and Technology Research Center. All the three platforms are equipped with advanced test and analytical instruments for inorganic materials, technological equipment and test equipment. The main technologies of the company include wet-process technology for suspension insulators, wet-process and dry-process technologies for post insulators. Every year, more than 50,000 tons of products are produced and they cover a wide range of more than 2,000 specifications. In the company, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 are carried out.
